[This was a letter i sent to "letters to the editor"page in response to one sent from Sahbia Khali,it wouldn't suprise me if this person wasn't put up by "Hoddy and co", or maybe even related.
However! it wasn't good enough to be printed so rather than keep it in the 'sent box' i posted for you to read,or not.]
Sir,
I had to laugh at the editor’s comment to ‘Dear reader,’
“The Regional newspapers is considered by the UK population to be the most trustworthy of all media (20 per cent) followed by BBC TV (19 per cent.”
“This research has shown that readers feel that their local paper understands their needs and lifestyles. You can trust the Keighley News because together we can ensure that the KN remains a strong voice in the community, able to stand up for local people and ensure that their needs are recognised by those in power.”
Those of us who do read the Keighley News recognise that this paper and its editor have their own political agenda, so any statistics given about the KN and the BBC's “trustworthiness” should be dismissed immediately, the BBC is run by left-wing recruits, and it’s positive discrimination is a scandal.
The letter from Sahbia Khali says that he/she reads the KN regularly, then how can she/he miss the fact that in the local elections the BNP polled over 5,000 votes whilst only standing in three wards? he/she is worried that the BNP received just over 4,000 in the general election, since Ann Cryer admits to devoting 50 (per cent) of her time with 18 (per cent) of the Keighley people, being part of the 18(per cent) Sahbia has every right to be pleased with Ann Cryer? But! I would suggest she/he find another more reliable way to learn about Keighley folks views.
I would welcome an investigation on why the two hour delay for the postal votes in Ilkley, I am not saying that there is anything sinister about the delay, that would imply that the Labour party wasn’t to be trusted, how could anyone possibly doubt their integrity, considering their exemplarily conduct throughout the local elections?
I would like to point out that Ann Cryers daughter who supported her mum at the count in Ilkley looked quite fetching dressed in her sari and gold bag, it would have made a fine picture if the editor’s spouse and the regular labour supporting writer from Standbury and his wife were photographed in their traditional costumes for posterity?
