17/11/2005 - [shadow=red,left,300][glow=red,2,300]FACTUAL![/glow] BNP leaflet condemned [/shadow]
FAR right group the BNP has been condemned for posting anti-Muslim leaflets to homes.
(what a suprise, the truth is forboden)
Local politicians and residents have been left shocked by the mail drop in the Mayfield area of Farnborough.
The leaflet entitled Freedom & Security NOT ‘Diversity’ & Danger depicts a picture of one of the nail bombs planted by British Muslims in the London terrorist attacks.
The BNP accuses the government of being soft on terrorism, warning there are at least 3,000 trained Muslim terrorists in Britain seeking to destroy the British way of life.
But community leaders condemned the literature for playing on fear and spreading hate.
Rushmoor Borough Council leader Cllr Peter Moyle said the views had no place in Farnborough.
He said: “It’s designed to spread fear and hate.
“I think it’s scurrilous and totally unacceptable.
“It is certainly not the way any political party should act.”
He also said the BNP’s proposals were hateful points of view, not policies.
Liberal Democrat group leader Cllr Craig Card said a leaflet was posted to his home last Wednesday. He felt it was totally misleading.
He said: “It’s attacking a sec-tion of the community unfairly.
“This is being put out by a part of British society that I am ashamed of.”
He also referred to former BNP member David Copeland, who killed three and injured others when he planted nail bombs in London in 1999.
The Nazi sympathiser from Sunnybank Road in Cove is serving six life sentences, three for murder and three for causing an explosion with intent to endanger life.
Cllr Card said: “He probably killed as many people. How do the attacks he committed a few years ago reflect on British society?”
Labour leader Cllr Keith Dibble said the notion that white people were good and Muslims were bad was a simplistic, dangerous argument.
He said: “It’s politics by fear. It’s scraping the barrel in my opinion.
“I think it’s very dangerous. There will be small pockets of people across the borough that would endorse this line.”
He also said immigration and crime were not linked and urged everyone to unite against the BNP.
But Warren Glass of the BNP’s Farnborough branch said it would continue to distribute the leaflet around the borough.
Although there have been racially motivated attacks in Farnborough he did not accept it would stir up racial tension.
He said: “It’s the politicians and councillors who are fuelling the problem. They are flooding the area with immigrants without consulting us.
“Putting large numbers of people into the area that can’t integrate creates hostilities. We can’t take the blame for this.”
The BNP maintains the government and opposition need to do more to protect British people from the terrorist threat.
The leaflet adds: “The old parties are all so hooked on celebrating diversity and forcing multiculturalism down our throats that none of them has the guts to do what it will take to win the war on terror.”
Luthful Karim, chairman of Camberley’s Al-Kharafi Islamic Centre, said this was not the first time the BNP had sent out extremist leaflets.
He said: “When they see an opportunity they take it.
“It’s up to the political and community leaders to hold community meetings to let people know the contribution ethnic minorities make to this country.
“We are all together and must work together in this multicultural society.”
He also said Islam did not support suicide bombers, who represented a tiny proportion of Muslims.
Many residents said thay had thrown away the leaflet and declined to comment on it.
One woman agreed the government had to get tougher on immigration but said the tone of the message was extreme.
Another whose parents came here from overseas said Britain’s immigration policies were greatly appreciated, but agreed that many immigrants came here because Britain was seen as a soft touch.
But she did not agree with the BNP. She said: “When I read it I was disgusted. It’s too extreme. Are you to be discriminated against because of your religion?”
Another resident felt some BNP solutions were completely impractical. He said: “If the BNP had their way Frimley Park Hospital would close down. There’s a lot of Filipino nurses.
“A lot of domestic staff are foreign because a lot of people in this country are not prepared to do this sort of work.” ;D
(train our own, send them back to their own countries, they have nothing we want or need)
